The set for Kim’s Convenience is based off a real-life convenience store that’s been around for 30 years.
The store was originally called Mimi’s Convenience but CBC installed a new sign that the owners stuck with.
Yong and Kyung Chung own and operate the convenience store.
“They made a copy of my store. It’s a little bit smaller than my store, but it’s almost same. I tell them they have more stuff than I have!”
You can spot plenty of references to the show throughout the store.
Yong and Kyung even sell Kim’s Convenience shopping bags.
